THE FOLLOWING MOURNING is a black comedy from the writer Adam Colclough.
The Tour Guide of Grief will navigate you on a journey through a cemetery filled with love, loss, lament and laughter
Assisted by his Guardians of Grief, the Tour Guide will introduce to you, five mourners and their reasons for being there, and how grief has affected each of them differently.
Although the subject matter may seem morbid to many, this production is anything but! Moments of tenderness twinned with humour highlight how just as in life, light and shade can also be found in death
In essence, this piece of theatre which is premiering at Poynton Players is basically the bare bones. The six actors taking what is written down on the page and bringing it to the stage, in a stripped back, simplistically styled show with no tech or set.
As this production is in the embryonic stage, the presentation of it, has purposely been chosen as a way to get the show out there in front of an audience to test it out and to see how it is received, with the intention to then develop it further, and in doing so, help to raise some much needed supplies for a local food bank charity in the process.
The above is why we at SING FOR THEIR SUPPER have priced tickets at £5 and the added option for all audience members to bring a food bank donation with them on the night, because a full house equals full bellies!
So, to paraphrase Shakespeare in a shameful bid to encourage you all to purchase tickets – “If musicals be the food bank of love, book on!”
WARNING: During the performance, there will be the occasional loud noise.
